Being global, we don’t nurture a "corporate island" mentality. We’re committed to supporting programs that make a difference in our communities across the world.
Community programs like Nissan Neighbors and the Nissan Foundation provide humanitarian and educational assistance. Globally, our social contribution ranges from environmental to corporate citizenship programs.
We’re also proactive in advancing global consumer vehicle safety, sponsoring programs like Snug Kids™ and Qwest for Safety™ to make our roads safer for children and families.
Domestically, our work with the United Way has led to $14 million pledged by Nissan employees over the last 14 years. Nissan also provides yearly donations to the United Way in support of communities near our North American headquarters in Tennessee, including over $20,000 in support to Davidson, Rutherford and Cannon counties and over $3,000 to Franklin county.
For more than 20 years, Nissan employees in Smyrna, TN, have helped local children, seniors, veterans and the disabled celebrate the holidays through the Christmas from the Heart program. Employees sign up to purchase gifts for those in need. They receive information about the needs of the person they are helping, purchase presents and bring the gifts to be sorted at work. Nissan employee volunteers sort and deliver the gifts to the agency representing the recipients.
Every affiliate and location chooses community outreach opportunities to participate in each year. Our NMAC facility in Irving, TX has sponsored both school supply and holiday gift drives for families in need for over 5 years. In addition to other activities, NMAC has been focusing on the health of families & safe driving with annual cancer awareness & MADD Strides for Change activities.

The Nissan Green Program takes a comprehensive approach to the environment, with the realistic goal of advancing a stable, mobile society. Our Green Plan takes into account everything from vehicle production and daily vehicle use to dealer initiatives and corporate impact to quantify and reduce our net CO2 emissions.
An especially strong example of our commitment to green is at our Corporate HQ in Franklin, TN. To construct this facility, which is designed to LEED certification standards, we took such energy saving and environmentally conscious measures as topping the buildings with an insular roof system of low-growing plants and restoring a 2.5 acre wetland area on the grounds to collect rainwater.
Worldwide, our aim has been and continues to be quite simple: advancing causes and programs that enrich people’s lives.
